Building RETURN.
One idea,
made real.

The font, the illustrations and the transition between worlds all began with one idea. A short note on making RETURN, and an invitation to explore the process.

One idea, carried through.

When I started building RETURN, I wanted a place where my work with AI, design and photography could belong together. The idea connecting them was the transition from the digital world to the real world: using technology to make something people can see, feel and use.

That idea runs through the opening images, the way the page moves and RETURN DISPLAY, the variable font I created with AI specifically for this site. Its two voices make the transition visible in the letters themselves.

The judgement is in the revisions.

Making the site meant looking closely at each output. Illustrations that looked too photographic needed a clearer drawing language. A portrait that looked like someone else needed another pass, using my own photograph as the reference. And two opening images needed to become a transition that felt continuous.

AI helped generate, revise and build. I set the direction, selected what belonged and corrected what did not. The value of the process is in that exchange: making something concrete, judging it against the idea and refining it until the parts feel related.

Come inside the making.

I have put that process into an interactive case within Design + AI. You can move through the idea, the experiments, the choices and the result. Each step shows what AI contributed and the decisions I made. You can also try the actual font and follow the work back into the site.

RETURN is still evolving. This case is a look at how I work: concept, art direction and hands-on building, with AI as part of the practice.
